After a good showing in the Little League Baseball & like Canada our most closest neighbor , I think Mexico City would be a possible selection !

  1. No more teams should be added, but a few relocations would be a good idea.

Move the A's to Las Vegas, the Marlins to Charlotte and the Rays to Orlando or New Orleans.

  2. Nevada

  3. Tampa Bay.

    The Rays.  Just, Rays.

  4. North Carolina would be cool

  5. No more baseball teams, please.  The talent pool in the US is so drained that we have to comb the jungles of South America to find enough people who can actually play the game to fill out the teams we have now.

To tell the truth, they should fold a few teams and make the game better.

  6. Why don't we just put a MLB franchise in every city.

    MLB doesn't need another franchise.

  7. I've long thought Mexico City would be a nice spot for a franchise, but to be honest, the travel would be brutal.  The closest Major League city, Houston, is a grueling 749 miles away by plane.  Not quite the 1,033 miles from Miami to San Juan, but we saw how well that worked out when the Expos were playing there.

There are a few cities in the U.S. that I think are deserving of teams, though most of them do have AAA teams already. Las Vegas, for example. The 51s have topped the 300,000 plateau in attendance for 25 years straight (granted, they play to a max capacity around 12,000, but for a AAA club, that ain't bad.)  It's a major city, growing rapidly, with a lot of similarities to Denver (the Rockies averaged over 23,000 even in their worst year of attendance) and Phoenix (the Diamondbacks have never averaged fewer than 25,000 fans per home game for a season.)

Not to mention it's the largest American city without a professional sports franchise.

Salt Lake City would also be a promising choice, and would help plug the enormous hole in the northwest chunk of the country between Denver and Seattle where there are no baseball teams.

Still, I would very much love to see a couple Major League teams pop up south of the border eventually.  It's a better fit than Canada, in my opinion.

  8. Within the US: Portland

Outside the US: Mexico City, Tokyo, Taipei

Tokyo and Taipei are very, very far in the future if ever.

We the fans may all agree it's too watered down now - but do you think the owners really care? $$$$ talks.

  9. Well, I would like a franchise somewhere in North Carolina. There is nothing down here to do. And the nearest baseball franchise is in Atlanta.

  10. Indianapolis, IN

    Portland, OR

  11. Vegas is a great choice for a team, but i think somewhere in the Carolina's would be the first choice. But baseball wont create a new expansion team if they knew was what good for them.  Everyone is right, the talent pool is way down and ppl want to see good players and good team.  If baseball wants a team in another city, they would have to move a team there, most likely the Florida teams would be tops on the list.

I still think were a couple years out from seeing pro baseball teams outside the US though, but in the future, it would be a great investment and a great new fan base

  12. Las Vegas is the first obvious choice, because of their market value.

I really would like for North Carolina to get a team, We were close to getting the Expos a few years back.

Ima huge Braves fan and their games don't even come on TV anymore.

Charlotte Or Raleigh would be a great city to home a team...People would support heavily! We love our baseball in North Carolina!

  13. las vegas

  14. There's way too many teams to begin with.  They never should have added the Rays and Marlins.  Rays are in 1st and barely draw 10,000, Marlins have 2 titles and don't even draw that much.  I guess somewhere like Memphis, Oklahoma City, one of the Carolinas would be the cities if you had to expand.

  15. Mexico City is too far, too high an elevation, and too polluted.  It be like Coors Field with smog.

A better place for a team would be Tijuana.

    Or Havana.

The only thing with these foreign teams is how do they make the money to compete with the big market teams?  They can't charge $400 for seats like NYY or BOS do.

  16. Who ended up winning the little league world series???
