What civil war book did sid meier base his SMG game on?

WHen i was a kid, in the late 70's, I used to love a civil war book that had pictures and hand drawn color battle scenes in it. It was very similiar to sid meiers gettysburg but with more detail in the book. Does anyone know what this book is and where I can find it? I want to get it for my kids. Thanks

It was called the "Civil war of the century"
