What classes do I need for admission in a US university or if I wanted to study abroad?

See I need to take classes for the next two years and I want to make sure they will help me to get a wide range of picks of universities in the future. It's hard to find the overall requirements because for example, here in Denmark you need certain courses in high school for a certain career... I want to be in the medical field/dentistry/engineering etc. I am basically thinking of taking English Standard Level, Danish High Level, Chemistry HL, Mathematics HL, Physics HL/SL, and Psychology. I was thinking of adding Biology and I am confused if history or economics or psychology would benefit me more because I have to pick one of those. I thought psychology was MOST INTERESTING EVER. But I hear history is most important! I have been in a US high school and already had Biology and world history... I am confused though and I don't think my counsellor can say anything about universities abroad, only in our country.

  1. Where do you want to go to college? If you are interested in the US, then all those courses will be fine. You can either choose Psychology or History or both if you like. Most colleges will transfer those subjects (I'm assuming those are IB courses) as college courses if taken at the high level. Try to have a broad education and make sure you have covered Math, English, Literature, Science, and Social Studies. The best thing you should do is to try to narrow down your selection of universities and research the admission requirements for those universities. For example, Cambridge will have a different set of course requirements than the University of Maryland. Overall, I see that you are mostly taking HL courses and that will benefit you since you may be able to bypass a whole semester (maybe more) in the states just by taking and passing your IB exams. Good luck!
