I'm going into 9th grade and want to know what specific things MIT looks for in accepting college students. Thanks.

  1. My best friend is going to MIT and its not only school classes that count. Seeing as your only a freshman, there won't be too many options open, but I'd recommend doubling up on math or maybe a science class (I did that my freshman year).  Do you have block scheduling? that makes it easier.

Outside of school, you also need to work on getting volunteer hours. It would be great if you started that now.

    good luck!

  2. MIT wants the highest level of classes, the very highest in GPA, and the same in the SAT/ACT scores.

  3. I recommend going to the MIT site and seeing what they accept.  Or even better, talk to your HS counselor or talk with an adviser from MIT.

  4. Make sure that every year you are taking the most advance classes that your school has to offer.  Just also make sure that you aren't overloading yourself to the point where it affects your GPA.  Also, if possible, take a couple of community college classes for the summer and maybe 1 during the school year.  Of course, start doing this the summer between your sophomore year and junior year.

Make sure you're really involved in something that you like.
