I'm in the NC school system, so that makes a difference on what courses. I'm a rising sophmore.

  1. There should be a regional tech high school that you can apply to. It's an alternative high school that promotes careers. Typically, it started as a way for kids to get job training while in high school, but in many areas, there are specialty programs for pre-vet, pre-med, and more. These schools gear studies, projects, and internships toward what universities are looking for and are usually in contact with these schools (more so than a normal guidance dept. in a high school, which has to serve the interests of all students. Tech schools are focused on only a few areas, so they can be more involved in preparing you for college). For many kids, though, it's a tough decision to switch high schools when they are already settled in their own school.

Lastly, don't feel you have to get into a university that offers a vet program. Doing well in any pre-vet/animal science college will make you desirable to a vet school. I am sure you know the statistics for getting into vet school, but check out the stats for drop-outs. Universities would rather invest in someone who has proven themselves (successfully completed a pre-vet, 4 yr program) than take a chance on an 18 yr old who may or may not change majors in 18 months.

  2. music as it is reli good confidence builder and when u working with animals in that kinda way u need confidance

  3. It is always nice to take a lot of science courses.  I would email or call your school guidance counselor and ask him/her.  You could also to the website of the university that you want to attend and email a professor in one of the departments.

  4. our school has a "veterinary assistance" class, but anything that has to do with science will help!

  5. well it is very advisable to take sciences... especially bioly which you will need most probably but also chemistry is very important and some colleges require physics too so i think you should call you school or guidance counsellor to ask for a professional point of view.... personally i also thinkyou should take something like maths, it is sometimes required!

  6. Sciences & math
