  1. Vinegar and water will kill the germs fine and will not hurt the birds at all..

  2. I volunteer with a raptor rehab center we use saimple green deluted. take bird out clean cage rinse  and you are ready

  3. White vinegar and baking soda are both totally safe and will get pretty much anything off of a bird cage. I use them to clean stainless steel frying pans, even!

    You can get white vinegar cheap in large quantities at Costco and other warehouse stores.

    Do remember to rinse with water after you're done cleaning.

  4. SAFE TO USE:

    * apple cider vinegar and water solution

    * p**p-off bird cage cleaners

    * bees wax candles

    NOT SAFE TO USE:

    * any kind of cleaning chemicals

    * scented candles

    * air fresheners

    * aerosols

    * so called "pet safe" chemicals

    I personally use vinegar and wanter solution, and it works great. also bathing your birds regularly (with tap water in a CLEAN misting bottle) will help reduce feather dust and bird smell

  5. Do not use any aerosols at all. No pine cleaners. Anything that is airborne can make your bird very ill or kill him. I have 5 birds and I use p**p Off wipes. They clean very well and also leave a scent behind and totally safe for birds. Can even use them with birds in the cage. Also comes in spray and bottle with scrub brush. Once a month you can clean cage well with applecider vinegar mixed with water. You can also use bleach diluted with water but I have never felt safe doing so. Things that may harm your bird are all air freshners and rug shampoos, incense, perfumes, heated teflon, smoke. Amonia is very bad. They are very sensitive due to the air sacs throughout their bodies. Thanks for being cautious enough to look into this. Hundreds of pet birds die every day from people not knowing about the affects some things have on birds. Also no bug spray. Good luck.

  6. Only use cleaning supplies that you find in bird stores, like the p**p off products.

    For my cages I use white vinegar- if your cage is nasty, it does not have to be diluted.

    If you feel you need to disinfect- use hydrogen peroxide and water, hydrogen peroxide is 100% safe.

  7. I always used salt water or  vinegar N water. Any chemicals are not good for your bird.
