Question:

What cleans oil based mud off of skin?

My son works on a land rig in oil based mud, irritates the skin and need ideas on what to clean it with.

  1. My vote goes to GOJO...used it all the time when I worked on rigs


  2. You can buy GOJO, or GOOP. It is used my auto mechanics to get oil and grease off of there skin. it works great.

    Hope this helps.  

  3. Gasoline will take it off quickly but is an irritant itself.

    Laundry detergent works fairly well, takes some scrubbing.

    Diesel and kerosene work well, not as irritable as gasoline.

    On the rigs we used diesel mixed with liquid detergent to cut grease and oil.  Works well and it is not too irritating for most people.

    Water-free hand cleaners that mechanics use work but after getting the mud off use regular soap to finish up.
