For showing and jumping and maybe cross country if there was the chance. Also do you need a show cane instead of a crop/whip? Thanks

  1. x country- a xc vest, field boots or just paddok boots with half chaps, any shirt doesnt matter.

flat-hunt coat, show shirt with stock collor, tan breeches, tall boots, and crop it just has to be black, you need a velvet helmet with your hair up, some shows require leather belts.

  2. breeches-natural color

    show blouse-any color-with a collar.

    english pin.

    show jacket-usually black/brown/blue/gray.

..for hunt seat and jumping. not sure for CC

...no you can use a crop/whip!

  3. Hunter:   You need boots (can be tall or short with half-chaps), velvet showing healmet or approved riding healmet with velvet cover, tan(ish) colored breeches, hunt show jacket (can be navy blue, olive green, or black), showing shirt with collar (this can be short sleeved in the summer so it isn't as hot but you may also want to bring a long sleeved one in case it is really hot and the judges decide to let you take off your jackets, then you will need long sleeved) you may use a crop, but not a dressage whip.

Cross-Country:   Field boots, polo shirt, breeches, safety vest, healmet

Dressage(for the lower levels):   Tan or white breeches, boots, black dressage jacket, velvet healmet, white shirt with sock tie, whip (you may use a dressage whip

  5. most shows - tanish colored breeches, tall field boots, show shirt w/ collar, i wouldn't go with bright wild colors, hunt coat, keep colors navy or hunter, or similar colors, velvet helmet, or helmet w/ cover. GPA, IRH, Charles Owen helmets are good too.

For rated shows - its pretty much the same, just use a white shirt.

For some schooling shows - For hunters still wear above, but for jumpers wear a polo shirt. Fun colors in jumpers are cool.

For xcountry - breeches, boots, polo, body protector, helmet.

And you can use a crop. Just don't use a long dressage whip unless you are actually doing dressage. just use a normal short crop.

  6. What level are you showing? Schooling shows are more casual: polo shirt, tan breeches, and even half chaps can be acceptable.

Cross country: cross country shirt, safety vest, breeches (any color), field boots, helmet (can have colored helmet cover).

Hunter: much more picky in terms of ratcatcher, tan breeches (Tailored Sportsmans or look-alikes), jacket (dark blue if equitation), field boots, helmet should be ATH-type or velvet.

Dressage: lower level, tan or white breeches, field boots (you don't need dress boots until you're higher level), black dressage jacket, white shirt with stock tie, ATH-type or velvet helmet.

Again, specific shows have specific rules; some are more relaxed.
