What clothing is INAPPROPRIATE to wear in San Jose?

I'm going to Costa Rica this Saturday and I'm staying with my family over there. I was packed two strapless shirts (tube tops) and my mom said that in San Jose girls don't really wear that cause it's inappropriate. Is that true? I bought those two shirts just for this trip! Is it ok to wear them in San Jose or only on the beach? Would people think I'm a **** if I wore them?

people en costa rica dress the same way people do in the states or canada, we ticos love it when girls show their skin

Just so you know, girls here dress really s**y, they show some skin. Girl s and guys here dress the same way people dress like in the states so just bring what ever you want.

It's not inappropriate.

Girls here in CR show lots of skin, including myself. I wear tube tops and spaghetti straps all the time, and it isn't uncommon to see a girls wearing miniskirts, and very provocative tops. It depends on what's inappropriate for you.  

I lived in Florida for about 4 years, and people here dress the same way.
