There are going to be 3 of us over there, can you recommend a club, what time will they get going on NYE? Would it be worth going there for 12pm or do we need to go somewhere else for food/drink first?

  1. Spanish people have had a traditional custom to celebrate New Year's Eve. On the last day of the year, the 31st of December, they wait until twelve p.m. and everybody has to have twelve grapes ready to eat when the clock starts to chime. It is traditional to listen to the clock from Puerta del Sol in Madrid. So most of the people will be busy with their families and friends and will go out after that. However, Barcelona is a very touristy place and there will be places where to go before midnight.

For clubs, it really depends what music you like. Nevertheless, I strongly recommend 'Razzmatazz' http://www.timeout.com/barcelona/guideve...

I have been there several times for NYE and it has always been great.

  2. I lived 3 years in Barcelona and every year I made something different. It depends a lot of your budget and what you expect... usually people go eat first and then go out from 2 in the morning until the next morning... my tips are:

    1. Either you chose a nice restaurant with a bit of entertainment during the night until 2 o'clock for example in the new harbour of Barcelona (next to the Hotel Arts) or you do in the Barrio Gotico. It will cost you money... count aprox. 60-70 EUR per person with wine... even more. The advantage in both case is once you finished to eat you can go out and find directly plenty of possibilities according to your taste.. but be careful the entrance to discos are extremely costly on this night for Barcelona and usually you need to buy the entrance a couple of days before for the good clubs.

    2. You don't book anything and just party in the street new Plaza Catalunya, the beach and in the Barrio Gotico... going from bar to bar.

    3. Go to Stiges, this is the village of Party.. ok there are many g**s, but the parties are amazing there. You might find as well a lot of small restaurants. It is 20 minutes away by train from Barcelona. Very easy to access.

Enjoy your 31st... but in all the case, keep in mine it is expensive!
