I am a 2nd year golfer and have a handicap of about 20. I am looking for a decent set of clubs within the 400 dollar range. What are some good options?

  1. The best answer I can give is to be custom fitted, WHY because so many variables come into play ie. age, height, flexibility etc. Then the technical side comes into play, swing speed, ball speed, launch angle etc. Cheap clubs are ok but the right club will give you more enjoyment knowing bad shots are you and not the clubs. Happy golfing.

  2. Try and get a good quality Forged head blade or semi blade clubs, a real good investment would be older Ping, Taylor Made or Mizuno clubs from the mid 90`s + on. Still plenty available at $400 or less for a set. I have just bought a set of Mizuno TP9`s for $150 and a set of Beryllium Top Flite clubs for less than $200! Dont let people say blade clubs are for low handicappers, yes these clubs do let you know when u hit a bad shot, but when you hit it well, its sublime! They encourage you to play well. I would recommend though getting regular shafts and just swing through, dont try to crush the ball. I easily get a club lenght more from my blades than my cavity back clubs and tend to keep my tempo better. And also older clubs like the ping "i" range are only going to go up in value, so buy now, enjoy them for a few years and probably double your money selling them again:)  hope this helps Matt.
