I'm a 5'9" woman.... I find that ladies clubs feel a little short but mens clubs may be on the long side. Any suggestions as to what I should do when purchasing a new set this spring?

  1. Custom fitting.  Because you are 5'9" a men's set would suit you better.  Women's clubs are cut short.  They say a woman 5'7" or taller should use men's clubs.

  2. I found out that club fitting is your best option. On www.tgw.com you can customize your club to your exact specifications. Also if there is  ***** Sporting Goods around you most of them offer the same thing.

  3. Get fitted for your clubs and I would recommend Callaway (very forgiven).

  4. Men's clubs are made for an average man that is about 5' 10" tall. The main difference between a man and a woman's club is usually about 1" in length. Getting fit would be the best way to find out what exactly you need. All manufacturer's should have a custom build department. When you get fit and find the clubs you want contact them and they should be able to get them to you within a week or faster for express delivery.

  5. Get fitted. A good pro shop or a professional clubmaker will be able to adjust clubs to fit your body style. The problem with clubs that are too short or too long goes way beyond the degree to which you have to bend. There's also the lie angle issue, which directly affects accuracy.

  6. Well first of all it depends on what iron set you're thinking of getting. The Ping I10 and G10's are the new ones on the block. The G10's are extremely forgiving because of the deep cavity back and wider sole and are a little bit more popular among the newer players. These run for about $849 CDN.

The I10's are for a little bit more advanced player. They won't be as forgiving as the I10's and have slimmer soles. While not as forgiving as the G10's, these are still forgiving, but in a more intermediate skill level. The I10's also run for $849 CDN.

Now Taylormade just got the R7's in which are by far some of the nice ones. They have so much selection with these. Theres the R7 Draw Combo, that have draw weighting on them, and have a 4-A (4-Gap).

But by an 18 handicap I would say you would be spot on for an R7 TP set. These will be a little less forgiving and will and half a degree less lie/loft. I believe they're about $950 CDN.

i guarentee ping G10 (graphite one) would be the best to get and play with.

    good luck!!!
