Question:

What college is best for this major?

I want to major in something like translation/translator. I also want to minor in either meteorology or photojournalism. I reside in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, but am willing to go anywhere across the state for college, and may consider going to a college out of state if it provides what I am looking for. Is there a college that would support my major (or possibly double major and a minor), and if so, what college is it? Thank you in advance.

  1. I don't know of any 'translation' majors; you should be majoring in a specific language and getting a job from there.  But even majoring in a language doesn't mean you will be good enough to work as a translator unless you spend a year or so in the country that speaks it.

Middlebury in Vermont has great language programs.

  3. Do you mean interpretation?  If that is the case, you need to study a specific language and become a "Portuguese Interpreter".  Or whatever language it is that you want to become fluent in.  It isn't just the language you will learn, but all about the culture and the land.

Many languages provide languages as a major or a minor.  You need to do your own foot work in your area (or wherever you would like to reside for college) and meet with advisers for specifics in the colleges and the majors.

    Good luck!!
