  1. Yes, I am a parent and also a student.  I major in Elementary Education to become a teacher.

  2. I'm working on a degree in English Education.  I want to teach high school or junior high English and possibly English as a Second Language.  I also want to tutor in general.  I want to get my Master's and PhD in Teacher Education so that I can teach teachers how to teach.  My ideal job after I get my graduate degrees would be to teach Teacher Education at a university, or work as a "Teacher Counselor" for a school district, helping  them learn how to teach.

My hubby is working right now while I finish college, then I'll work while he finishes (I have less to finish than he does).  He will get a degree in Information Technology so that he can be a Network Administrator.  It's kind of silly though, since he already is working as the Chief Information Officer for his company.  If he decides not to get his bachelors degree soon he'll take some certification classes, which will end up equating to a 4 year degree.

  3. liberal arts. Teacher

  4. I was a Biology major in college, with minor concentrations in neurobiology and nutritional sciences (thought I might want to go to medical school when I started out).

I didn't necessarily "use" my degree with the first couple of jobs I had right out of college, but many people do not.  But what I really wanted to do was to work in pharmaceutical sales, and that is what I ended up doing a couple of years after I graduated from college.  I had the science background from my studies at college, and the sales background from the other jobs that I had in between college and being hired by my first pharmaceutical company.

But you don't have to necessarily choose your undergraduate major based on what you want to do for a career.  Yes, if you plan on being an engineer or an architect, then you obviously need to study that.  But that isn't the case for many careers--employers just want to know that you have a four year degree from a good university.

    Good luck to you!

  5. After changing major 5 times I finally found my calling: Accounting

  6. I majored in Education and Biology. I am a biology teacher.

  7. i'm a senior in college majoring in sociology!

  8. I first got a Bachelor of Arts and Science, major in English, minor in Sociology. Then I worked for a while at a College, then as a newspaper reporter and photographer. I had thought I might want to do that as a career, then decided it wasn't what I wanted. So then I went back to university and got my Bachelor of Education degree in Elementary Education - and worked as an elementary teacher; English as a Second Language, Literacy, and Computers teacher for adolescents and adults - then I became a mom!

  9. Well I'm a parent...but I'm not in college yet. I'll actually be a sophomore next year...but anyway...

I'm hoping to go to college for neurobiology.

  10. I originally majored in biology.  Then took a masters in genetics.  I worked as a microbiologist in the agricultural chemical industry for about 10 years.

Then I returned to school at majored in computer programming.  Then I got a job writing financial software.  Then I became a parent.

The downside of this sort of game plan is that I'm 44 years old and my youngest child (I have 2) is 2.5.
