I'm having a hard time finding one with the right fit, and time is running out fast. Here is what I'm looking for in a college, if you can help me to find a college with at least some of this criteria I would be SO greatful.

Community: I'd like a tight knit campus community, I'm unsure of what size I'm looking for but I'd like a friendly campus with things happening all the time, especially cultural things like poetry readings and get togethers. This is something I want to look forward to, sharing my interests and passions and getting close to new interesting and kind people. I'd like an actual campus, not a city school with everything far aapart, and not a commuter school.

Academics: I'm looking to major in Psychology and minor in Creative Writing. Creative Writing is my passion and the program should have visiting writers, a publication, and published teachers. The Psych department should have a good choice of classes and profs with a variety of interests. If this path doesn't work out for me, I'd like to try Art Education.

Atmosphere: I'd like perhaps an 'artsy' school (I'm a fan of eccentricity but not of ego-eccentricity) but not to the point of 'art snob' overpopulation. I'm sure you know what that means.

Judaism: I'd like some Jewish life, a Hillel would be nice, or some other org.

Location: I'd prefer it be near to a city or some active town with culture and opportunity. Also, I can't stand extreme cold temperatures.

The fewer general requirements the better.

My SAT and ACT scores aren't exactly the best, I don't fair well on tests, but my GPA is fairly decent and I'd like a school that looks for an individual for their talents and not their math scores. I am not looking for a high pressure Ivy league school or anything of that sort.

I would prefer somewhat of an even male female ratio, but that's an over the top request these days.

I go to Interlochen Arts Academy for creative writing, if that helps at all.

Please help!

  2. Take a look at Kenyon College in Ohio. It's a small, liberal arts college– that makes for a tight knit community. The campus is beautiful and the psych program seems fine. They have a Hillel, and they're well known for their creative writing program. Their web site is also quite good: http://www.kenyon.edu/about.xml
