I am autistic and some of my college peers are ignorant to my disability and tease me by calling me names like fat boy, nerd, loser, weirdo, etc. at times. Occasionally I am also victim to being hit or kicked. On one occasion a student threw a urine filled water balloon at me when I was walking to class to take an exam and I was teased by other students because I smelled bad.

  1. What? This is going on at a college? If someone threw a urine filled balloon at me, I would file assault charges with the police.

I would visit the Student Mental Health Center and see if they have any advice for you. You might also speak to the Dean of Academic Affairs, because this is a hostile environment and they have a responsibility to provide you a safe learning environment.

  2. I am appalled that this actually happens at a college level !! These incidents sound like assault. The campus police should have been notified. Every student has the right to get to classes safely. Document every event that happens from now on. Contact the student peer committee or legal aid. You may need to file a lawsuit against the college.

  3. the same resources for abled college student to deal with bullying.
