Southern Miss or Stephen F. Austin

I'm going on a track scholarship and they both offered me pretty good deals. I really like both schools and they are about the same overall to me.

Can anyone recommend one of these schools to me?

  1. I would consider you weigh four main factors:

    1) Do you like the coach? A great school and great scholarship with a miserable coach is awful. Lots of people transfer because of bad coaches.

    2) Do you like your teammates? Presumably you have met a few guys on the team. They are likely to be a big part of your life for the next 4 years, so getting along with them makes a difference.

    3) Does the school have good academic programs in fields you want to study? School is why your there afterall. If you want to be an engineer and the school's engineering program is in a falling down shed at the edge of campus, it may not be for you.

    4) Do you like the overall culture of the campus? At some schools life centers in fraternities and sororities. Some schools are party schools. Some schools are pretty quiet on the weekends. A few manage to balance the two.

I would also consider the track program in terms of your event. If you are a sprinter and the school hasn't had a good sprinter in 10 years, maybe the program is not suited to you.

  2. Southern Miss = Home of Brett Favre go there for sure

  3. Let me tell you the truth wether you like it or not. There is a 0.00001% chance that college runners go proffesional. I do not know your times but decide not only your scholarship offer the academics and if what is important to you is also held highly to them. Think about what you look for in a school and which of those two schools match up more with who you are. Think of it this way and I hope this doesn't happen if you got injured which school would then be more suited for you. Do not only decide on the running part but do your research and find out how many incoming freshmen actually graduateand all that good stuff. The school you pick will be your alumni for the rest of your life and you should want to go to a school with not only athletics but also a good academics program. It is all what fits you and your values and if one of those two colleges hold in regard high what you hold in regard high. Good Luck in college.

  4. Pick the one that gives you a better deal.

For instance if one doesn't waive out of state fees, go with the other
