By colleges, I also mean institutes and universities and whatever else there is. Right now, I'm a high school junior so I've been thinking a lot about this. I want to be an author (mostly of sci-fi and fantasy novels). And I want to be an actress, especially in movies and tv shows, and voice acting would be good, too.

Of course my parents want me to find somewhere close to home (Oregon), but I'll consider anything.

  1. Im not from the US, but apparently The University of Michigan, and the university of wisconsin are both good for English (for the writing obviously).

As for the acting...well I have know idea frankly.

  2. My vote would be for UGA in Athens or Mercer Univesity in Macon.

Several successful actors and writers have attended UGA (Kyle Chandler, & several others) and several movies (road-trip) have been filmed there. UGA has one of the best drama programs in the country and a great journalism school. http://www.uga.edu/

Mercer University is located in historic Macon, Georgia. Macon is a nice size city (not too big & not too small) with a very rich history. Macon has three large theaters, one (the Grand Opera House) is owned by Mercer University. In Macon you would have a great opportunity to participate in local theater and Mercer University has a great reputation. Mercer also have great music programs; sometimes music can help you get into acting. Jack McBrayer and several other famous actors are from Macon. http://www2.mercer.edu/default.htm

Good Luck! I hope you end up in Athens or Macon!
