  1. Hello

For a list of midwifery courses, see http://www.ucas.com/students/coursesearc...  If you use the course search and then go to A – Z listings to bring up midwifery courses, you’ll see 38 listed for 2009, including one at Northumbria University.

The link to this university will provide you with more detailed information including entry requirements and course content.  If you’re a mature student (i.e. over 21) different requirements apply and you may wish to contact the faculty for further advice. (N.B. Minimum requirements in literacy and numeracy are set by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), http://www.nmc-uk.org/).

It’s also worth checking the university website for information, including dates for open days.  If possible, visit the university to meet staff and students and check out facilities.  If this isn’t possible, try contacting individual departments such as the Faculty for course information, the Careers Service for information on graduate employment prospects or the Students Union for information on facilities and student life in general.

Have a look at http://www.ucas.com/students/beforeyouap... for useful guidance about the UCAS application process.  As a course interview is generally required, see http://www.prospects.ac.uk/cms/ShowPage/... for information on applications and interviews.

Researching the job role is important, not only to improve your chances of getting onto a course but to ensure that midwifery is the right career for you.  The website for The Royal College of Midwives, at http://www.rcm.org.uk/, has information on entry requirements for courses, the job role, pay and working conditions, and opportunities for financial support.  The Connexions website at http://www.connexions-direct.com/jobs4u/ also has information on midwifery.

Do allow time for these searches, as you may find other links to follow up.  I hope this helps answer your query.

  2. have a look at http://www.upmystreet.com/ - type in your post code or Area and it will come up with all the collages and schools in your area... then you can look at their website to see what courses they have.

But I know that TVU (Thames Valley University - a collage)  have a Midwife course. They're based in London, Reading, Slough, Ealing and Brentford. http://www.tvu.ac.uk/index.jsp

Have a look the courses and you should find it there.

    Good Luck!
