I would like to get into tv/film acting and print journalism. I have done theater in the past(been in more than 25 plays), but really like tv/film better alot better. I just think it is more natural, and I don't enjoy theater that much anymore. I'm taking: Intro To Theater now at my high school and don't like it that much. I would like to be an entertainment journalist or a regular print journalist. I can see myself working at Variety or The New York Times. I love to write, it another passion, but acting was first. I would like to double major in tv/film acting and journalism. I'm currently a freshman now. Here is what I am taking this year:

AP Human Geography (Very Hard!!!)

Accelerated Int Algebra I (which is like Honors)

Honors Biology

Honors English

Health/PE

Intro To Theater

I'm going to take French next year, and maybe two APS. I would take Italian, but my school doesn't have it. I live in GA. The schools I want to go to are NYU and Flagler College. I have looked into USC and UCLA, but they don'e have what I need. USC's acting only goes into theater, which I dont't like. They also have a terrible location. UCLA only goes into theater, has good location, but has no journalism program. I have looked into alot of schools. NYU is like a dream school, but is in NYC and NYC is more Broadway, and I can't sing or dance. I was in Chorus and everyone use to stare at me when I sang. I like the fact NYU goes into tv/film acting tho. I like the location of Flagler College and campus. It's acting mainly goes into stage tho. UGA would be aa safe school to me. I make good grades, but will say about a 3.7 GPA. I got all A's and an 89 last year. What shools do you recommend for me? I would like schools in Cali, NY, or FL. I'm from South Florida, so I may like going back there. I wouldn't mind any other school on the east coast. I do not want to go to a school like CalArts, they only go into stage too, lol. What is your feedback. I have looked at alot of schools. I may be intrested in a liberal arts college, like Middlebury, but in my field. Would I be intrested in Emerson University? Where do you suggest going? Thanks!

  1. I don't know about the theater stuff, but as far as journalism goes the J-School (School of Journalism) at the University of Missouri (Mizzou) is extremely good.

  2. I know New York University has a great program for what you are interested in!

  3. Hi:

I am a senior in CT and want to go into Journalism also. Flagler is great for that. I am not into the arts, so dont know about that. Sorry! Anyway, I am going to Flagler in November to look at it and make some decisions. I know the campus is very nice, and I personally like a smaller school. Somewhere else I have looked at is StonyBrook in New York. (Long Island) It is very large, but does have an excellent reputation. I have taken similar courses to what you have, and dont think i will have a problem getting into Flagler. I just want to find a school that will "fit". I know they have a nice new student center so I cant wait to see that. I hope you find what you want to. Cant you go UGA for free? Maybe you can go there and save your parents lots of dollars. UGA is a great school too. I was born in Georgia but moved to Connecticut in 2000.

    Good Luck in your search.
