  1. Colonial people ate the crops that they grew for lunch. This included wheat, barley, rye, corn and oats. Children were not permitted to sit at a table. Instead, they were only given food when the parents gave it to them. they would sand behind the parents, and they would have to eat very fast or else the parents might take away their foor.
