  1. I presume you mean colonies where the Appalachian Mtns marked their western border.

    Those colonies would have been Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York, as the Appalachian Mountains marked the western most extent of these colonies.


  2. If by "colonies" you mean the original 13 Colonies, the answer is New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. They all have the Appalachians on their western borders. Pennsylvania's western edge goes past the mountains and was not counted, and although the mountains run along Maine's western edge, it wasn't one of the original 13.
