    The laws of thermodynamics are such that a perfect absorber must still emit some radiation back, but whatever it emits is strictly a function of its own temperature and has nothing to do with the radiation it received (except that the incoming radiation helped heat the thing up). It was a major surprise in the early 1970's when people finally realized that those ordinary laws of thermodynamics apply to black holes as well.     Now, what you may have heard about green light (actually yellow-green light) is that it is, indeed, the "most visible light" in the sense that it's the kind of light to which the human retina reacts the most strongly (at least under what are called "photopic" conditions, which is a fancy way to say that the light is not TOO dim).

    More precisely, the "most visible light" has a wavelength of about 555 nm (5550 ansgtroms). This "greenish" light corresponds to the frequency of exactly 540 THz which is used in the definition of modern photometric units, like the candela or the lumen (see first link below).

  13. Christina c is spot on. but for the likes of your school project i think the answer you're looking for is "black". this is due to the absorbtion of all colours/heat/wavelengths.

    The way it basically works is... the way you see a colour is when light shines on an object, it absorbs a certain colour and reflects the rest away. so a green object absorbs the green wavelength and reflects every other colour spectrum. so therefore you only see green.

    The reason black absorbs the most is because it absorbs every wavelength of light thus absorbing the most heat since every energy source provides some heat.
