  1. Why in the world would you cover up those beautiful hw floors? People are paying fortunes to put them in now!  What I would do is add some really gorgeous "throw" rugs, orientals and the like.  That adds that soft texture you may be looking for without covering up the wood floors.  As for the color?... what color is your sofa, chairs etc?  What look are you going for?  Traditional, ecclectic, modern?  Depending on your own taste, I could see a warm rose/red color on the walls and orientals and other throws to pick up that color.

  2. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think an orange like "armagnac" (# 6354) would look terrific in the living room.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

As for carpeting, I think a gray or a deep red would look wonderful.

  3. i think the neutral color of the walls are great, at least its not white and its easy to work with year round when you change up your furniture, as for carpet, why add carpet??? hardwood floor is so classy and actually adds value to a house, just stick with it, and invest in a nice simple rug, since its summer how about using some coral colored decors to the space...?

    nice place =)

  4. i wouldn't add carpet to any of the wood floors, but I would probably replace the tile with a neutral color carpet. And depending on colors that you like, i would pick whatever goes with the furniture you have.
