I look good in dark wash jeans, but some of my old jeans just look like c**p on me now because they have faded so badly. Not even six months ago did they have a medium to dark wash. What detergent is best to keep in color, and does washing them on a certain setting also help? i usually wash them on warm or hot.

  1. Quit using hot water. Tide or Cheer are both good at reducing fade.

  2. I use Tide and I've never had a problem with fading. Also, to keep your dark jeans dark, turn them inside out and wash on cold. Washing them on hot will definitely fade them. The only things I wash on hot are whites, and I wash most of my colors on cold to help preserve the color. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  3. I wash in cold water and use a color safe bleach like clorox2.  As for detergent, I use "all"

  4. I use Cheer, however, if you are using City water with chlorine your clothes can still fade.  You need a chlorine filter for your home or going into your washer.
