What color do you think I should paint my room?

So, my dad said that maybe I could paint my room, and I really have no idea what color/s that I want.

I was thinking maybe-

Dark Blue/Red- The Minnesota Twins colors

Light Purple

or

Prairie Gold (Like the Minneapolis-Moline tractors)

The only colors that I don't want are any shades of Pink/Black.

Do you guys have any suggestions? I'll take any colors into consideration.

Thanks! :)

  1. Pick some colors that your new to, but you feel comfortable being around. My favorite color is buttercup or cream yellow!

  2. You didn't say your age and how long you will be using the room, but there are some very tasteful yellows and greens at Lowe,s and Home Depot. Why not take a look? You're bound to find something really nice.

  3. Unless you hate the colour orange I think you should consider it. My brother and I were getting our rooms painted and he wanted a bright orange but my parents thought it was too bright. I went for a duller orange (Probably just because I wanted o be like my big bro!) and in the end he followed suit. I can't believe how good it looks. I also can't believe I went for orange but I guess it was because of my brother.

  4. Dark blue and red for sure! I think it'll look great!

Glad I'm not the only girl fan who painted her room team colors, hah.

I'm a Yankees fan though and I painted it navy blue and gray on alternating walls and I'm ecstatic about the way it turned out. The navy I picked is gorgeous.

I used to have a baby blue and lavender room (like how you want light purple!) and I love these new colors so much more.

  5. This is an easy one:

Start with an inspiration piece and work your way out.

In other words, go to Walmart, Kmart, Target, Kohls, etc., and peruse their throw pillow aisles.  Find something that you LOVE (with cool colors/pattern) and buy it!

If you like the red/blue color combo, use it, but use it in conjunction with a third color like white or tan.  For the purple/gold combo, green would look nice as a third color.

Without thinking about tractors or baseball teams, let's just say you fell in love with this throw pillow:

In this scenario, you could have your walls painted a light lavender/gray.  If you wanted, you could add a 6"-8" dark plum or fuschia border to the top and bottom of the walls.  Your bedding could be in green/cream, and the accents in the room (throw pillows, lampshades, area rug) could be green.

See what other color schemes 'speak' to you then don't be afraid to expand on it by adding another color.

  6. well it's up to u, i'd say light purple or drak blue/red, but i prefer to stick to solids instead of alternating coloring on walls. it'd also depend a lot on what all u have in ur room, types of furnisure and such. and other main colors, remember dark colors would make it seem smaller and more closed in.
