My room is sort of a beige/almond/light tan color. I want to paint one of the walls a color that is uplifting. The floors are a cherry sort of wood and all my furniture is a very dark/almost black wood. Couches are a khaki color. What color should i paint the wall? I'm a girl too..

(21 yrs old, lives alone)

So pink is not out of the question but Im trying to figure what matches and i want a modern look

thanks!

  1. why not red???? red will make a hug difference since your furniture is black. or yellow would be  good choice.

  2. a medium to deep blue for sure

  3. I think orange. Any shade, pumpkin, rust, red-orange even coral.

  4. everything goes with beige. it's like a pair of khaki pants - you can throw on any color of shirt with them b/c they all go.

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think a deep green like "isle of pines" (# 6461) would look terrific.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  5. I've always liked how olive or sage green looks with beige/khaki. It's in the same neutral color family but not so dark and depressing like chocolate brown and not as "hey look at me" as red.

  6. Considering the colors you already have, and the color of your floors,  I would look towards a rust color.  But then we all have our own tastes, so my advise to you is to to home depot or where ever and bring home a bunch of the paint samples.  They are free and that you will get what you like, not what someone else would like.  It only means one extra trip to the hardware store---but that is better than repainting after you decide it was not for you.  Good Luck and happy painting!
