  2. Mars has long been known as the Red Planet.  Our probes there have shown this to be true.  Iron oxide (rust) on the surface causes the red color.

  3. I say it looks red in my telescopes, binoculars, and in my naked eyes.  Up close it is sort of the same color as the desert areas around the Grand Canyon in Arizona, shades of red/brown/yellow/white as shown in the closeup pictures we have from the rovers.

    The soil of mars is iron-oxide, giving us the reddish color.

    When water flowed on mars it made channels from the water flow, eroding the surface. Iron rocks near the water would of worn away, the oxygen in the water would of combined creating iron oxide, or rust.

    Mars is typically a peachy orange colour, as seen in countless images of Mars taken from the Earth, from orbit around Mars, and from the surface of Mars, as shown in the sources.

  13. Mars is associated with the colour red. to be fairly accurate it is overwhelmingly reddish brown with some darker patches in the volcanic regions.
