What color of curtains/draperies compliment well for my livingroom with maroon colored furniture?

I have 2 long windows on each side of my fireplace and I have 2 inch wood blinds on the windows. All my furniture is maroon colored with matching pillows. I would like to pull some other color into the room. All the walls are a warm mocha color.

I would choose a rich cream color for the curtains with a striped or patterned draped topper/valance that combines the mocha, maroon, and cream colors but has an added pop of green or blue.

Then I would add the blue or green accent color to the rest of the room with accessories like a luxurious throw in green or blue, a beautiful ornamental ceramic bowl or tray in that color, or a piece of artwork for the wall with the same colors in it.

Gold and white work well with Maroon...  my alma mater had maroon/gold as school colors
