What color pants should i wear with a blue blazer?

Im going on a cruise and i have a dark blue patterned blazer, and want to know if black slacks work with this, and what would be a good shirt and tie color

I don't like to mix blue and black, it reminds me of a bruise. I think tan pants with a white button up would look very classy.

I agree with the other answer and think a tan/brown tie would be nice too.
