What color/s should I paint my living room?

Question

I have brown carpet, beige couch with loveseat, black entertainment center, and chery wood coffee/end tables. Any thoughts would be helpful. Also its been red for 4 yrs, and I have 7 ft ceilings.

Red may be tough to cover with a light color. but a real rich saturated brown would look nice.  Lowes has a Valspar color called Wild Hawk that I really like.

If you go with a lighter neutral color, paint with a primer first.  Zinser makes a good primer, and you can ask lowes/depot to tint it for you.

How bout a nice light steel blue? I also like the idea of sage. I think the cooler color would offset the creams and browns nicely, and give the room an airier, more relaxing feel. Then to pull it all together, add a couple throw pillows in the color of your choice. If you want to make the ceiling seem taller, paint it lighter than the walls (if it's not already).

and hang up brown wall hangings on the green wall

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes.
