From this page below and of the 16 colors it shows, which one do you think would look the best?

I'd really like to paint the counter, I've read about what steps need to be done and I have all the supplies needed. I asked a similar question yesterday but most of the responses I got said to add accessories or rugs, but that's not my style as I find it way too cluttered already in my kitchen. And I would paint the walls to make more of a difference but the lighting isn't very good and it's a small room.

  1. go to behr.com you can upload picture of your room you want to paint and experiment, i like dutchboy.com as wll

  2. I would go with the Earth as my first choice and then wheat as my second. Then you can color your walls whatever color you like.

Plus the neutral colors are timeless and won't go out of style.

  3. A baby blue

  4. I'd go with the Coastal Blue color. It would add a richness to your kitchen while providing contrast with the walls and cabinets!! : )

btw, thanks for posting about the counter paint. I didn't even know there was such a product. I think I'll paint my counters, too!! : P

  5. Rosemary Olive or Earth I have almost the same exact kitchen especially the 2 little cabinets above the sink the thing is I have a dish rack up there so the water drips off into the sink unfortunately i don't have a dishwasher. hope this helped

  6. I think the earth or olive I think they would warm up the area.  And a throw rugs doesn't add too much clutter...it can be changed easily and add a lot of warmth to an area

If you have the money...I would also add a back splash and some new lighting...possibly some under the cabinet lighting too

  7. i have a green marble in my kitchen and it looks AMAZING like everyone who sees my kitchen absolutely Loves it! so i would go with that light green.

  8. black always looks good with lighter colors

  9. I've been saying that when I remodel my kitchen I will get countertops the color of coffee so that when I drip it it won't be so obvious when I don't wipe it up right away. Therefore, I would choose the color called "earth."

  10. Hi,

I often get asked this question on my blog: www.pippajamesoninteriors.co.uk and so I would offer the following advice:

I really like the freshness of your kitchen and think the worktops work well as they are as they make the room look clean and modern.  However, if you are keen to add some colour then I would suggest the following.

If you are looking to achieve more of a country feel then I would suggest meadow as this colour would work with your units.  I would then suggest cream for your accessories as this will lighten the look (i.e cream ceramic bread bin, utensils holder, salt and pepper etc).

If you want to achieve a more modern feel then I would opt for pewter or black (I think this is what they call putty).  To help balance out the silver pewter color, you could fix a stainless steel pots and pan bar on the wall and opt for stainless and glass accessories as this will make the kitchen look more streamline.

Tip: if you are introducing a painted worktop, try not to have much more colour in the kitchen as things will start to look cramped and messy; especially as you mentioned that the kitchen was a small room.  i.e. opt for either white, cream, or glass accessories and this will help to unify the look.
