Question:

What color should I paint my kitchen that has Spanish style tile floor?

My cabinets are a light wood color, my counter tops are dark gray. The floor has Red, orange and tan, with gray grout. Also, I have a huge bay window that leads into the living room, so that wall will have to be an accent wall for the kitchen and living room....HELP! I've lived here for 3 years and can't decide what color to paint. I'd love to do red, but not sure how that would look with the flooring...any ideas?

  1. I think any of these colours would look good, using a lighter colour for the wall and a darker colour for an accent:

  2. Another gal had a similar question - I will transfer to here what I mentioned to her. Hopefully all of the same info applies to you.

Tope is a nice neutral paint color. Red has also be popular.

It may also help to view on-line color websites.

Sherwin-Williams.com has a color visual program.

    HG TV.com:

Lowe's has an on line tool to help with your colors.

Myself I find it best to talk to a paint rep at a good paint supply place whether it be Sevens, Rebcolite Paints, Home Depot,  Lowes... where ever you feel comfortable and know they know.

Home Painting Tool by Benjamin Moore is one of the best

  3. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think a light gray like "drop leaf" (# 7189) from their SandScapes faux finish collection might look good. And the sand texture would add another interesting element to the room. But I also do love red kitchens. Maybe take a piece of leftover tile from your floor to the paint store & ask them to color-match it for you.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
