What color should i do the living room?dining room??? i was thinking a tan...and the hallway a cool wine? what

If you want to do the hallway a wine color then maybe do the living room and dining room a creamy gold tone to accent the hallway.

Tan is a neutral color and will work with furnishings that bring color into play. The dining, if somehow visually connected with the living area, can play up on those same colors from the living area. I'm not sure what a "cool wine" is, but again, this could be introduced into the dining/living areas if they are connected. If your "cool wine" is a burgandy color, I would like to suggest a "warm" tan and perhaps a pop of another color to give the room character - like a yellow, green blue or even a purple (this of course depends on the intensity of your color burgandy choice). Adding the same color to your hallway is a good idea - maybe some ambient lighting would be a good idea so it won't be too dark. Good luck - and remember, if you don't like it, it's easy to paint another color! LT
