  1. Gold, cream, lavendar, sage are good shots.

  2. a beige or off white color will look nice

  3. A light mushroom color would be pretty or a lilac.

  4. you can't really use any other colors with black and burgundy or you can paint your walls the same color as your carpet. or you can go to a hardware store or a home depot store and talk to one of the workers and get color patterns and schemes for your living room. or have an interior designer come in and tell you which colors to use. or try brown walls or maybe try a wine color on your walls like a velvet red or a purplish red or a deep gold or grey.

  5. You could actually do red! If it was a dark-ish red, at least not bright red, it would look pretty cool. Depends on the shade of the burgundy though.

  6. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think a medium gray like "gray matters" (# 7066) would look terrific.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  7. You could do a neutral color like sand, or a pink (something several shades lighter than the burgundy.)  You could even do a gray, which would be very pretty.  I think it would depend greatly on the size of your room and the amount of light.

  8. go to the local paint store that sells to contractors such as sherman williams or creative paints.  ask for the contractors color swatch books.  all colors you could ever think of is in those.  push the couch up against the wall, and fan out the book.  pick several colors that you like, write down the names, go back to store and ask for larger color swatches of the ones you have chosen, then place them on the wall behind the couch, cut it down to three, then choose.  good luck

  9. Soft Grey!  I love Nantucket Rain by Glidden.  Buy a quart or sample and paint it on the wall first.

  10. If it was me, I would paint the walls like a chocolate milk color, it would make it very warm.  That is what I have painted on my walls and I love it, hate the carpet, but love the walls.

  11. depends on what effect you are trying to attain in the room. Do you want a warm feeling, are you going for a minimalistic look? what style and fabric is the couch, leather. How dark is the color of the carpet? depending on what you are after, the walls could be anything from beige to gray to navy blue. The size and proportions of the room as well as accent color pieces all play a part. Let;'s make some assumptions. For the most part, black furniture is not conduisive to making a room warm and cozy. Let's also assume that your carpet is a dark color. So now you have two royal colors in a manner of speaking. You need light colored accents to keep the room from looking like a cartoon series. A couple of colbalt blue glass pieces will help, and for your wall colors you can go anywhere from an off-white to beige to a little battleship gray. Personally, if this were my living quarters, I believe I would start with a pearly gray ceiling, in semi-gloss finish to reflect some light into the room against your dark carpet. Then, depending on your lighting system, I would inclined to paint three wals a pale rose, with the last accent wall several shades darker. I would do the three similar walls in a flat or eggshell finish if the walls are in ppor shape, the accent wall in a semi gloss. To really finsh the area, a pair or two of very dark green drapes would look great

  12. beige or tan like someone else suggested and maybe do an accent wall that matched the burgundy carpet...
