Im moving to new house, and getting my own bedroom, finally!

I get to choose color to paint it and curtains and all that.

Um...i was thinking of black, but many of my friends protested and said it will make me depressed. Hot pink would hurt my eyes, and i dont think they sell that color anyways...

hmm...

should i do a black ceiling with stars =)?

How about the curtains?

I want to go for more darker themes.

No laliac flowers and those happy themes. =S

I'll add more details if you want...

  1. Black and dirty white will dom black to ceiling and dirty white to walls and red for the curtains.

  2. Are you dumb? Black is absolutely hideous for a bedroom, not to mention glow in the dark stars.. EW   I think you need to visit a paint shop!  Light colors are good, dark colors are so sad!! you'll be depressed! Go WHITE with a latte feature wall.. trust me it looks good and then u can put black highlights in it if you really like black that much. GOOD LUCK!!

  3. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

Actually, I think a dark yellow like "butterscotch" (# 6377) would be yummy, and then get dark gray or midnight blue curtains.

  4. Use maroon color on walls and select matching colors like green or off white?

  5. A nice deep red would be nice on one wall, even shades of a cherry colour, but you don't want it too dark like black, it would look tacky, maybe some purple organza curtains as well!

  6. I recomend you do one wall dark and the others lighter. But be carefull because it is very hard to paint over dark colors once they are there and it also takes many more coats to get a smooth result. Its better to create a dark atmosphere using the lighting and curtains than to paint the walls dark. Put up nice thick curtains that will block out all light and add several dim lamps around the room but also keep one bright overhead light for when you really need to see (getting dressed, reading, cleaning, etc.)  but on separate light switches so you can create the atmosphere you want when you want it. Instead of painting or putting stars, try those new LED lights around the room or a cliché, white christmas lights. They now come in more decorative non-christmas styles like a wall of lights.

I do not recomend black, try really really dark colors that look almost black. Dark purple or green or browns. Black can look cheap and will show every ounce of dust or lint.

by the way you are not dumb! Deco is very personal so please ignore the previous persons "answer"

I personally recomend one dark dark purple wall and the others in a creamy off white. Dark (maybe velvet/velour) curtains and bedspread. Find one thing you love (a bedspread, curtain, poster, lamp...) and build from that. Only you know what you like.

by the way, they do sell every color so if you go for hot pink, they will mix it for you just bring a sample.

Go to google and search 'bedroom decor' and click on "images" on the results page. You will get lots of ideas surfing the web

  7. LIGHT BLUE!

  8. i think yellow is a good color as when the sun comes in it will light up the room and maybe go from for some whit curtains. like those ones you can see through but people on the outside can't see in. good luck
