Question:

What color to paint the nursery?

Okay - don't know if I'm having a boy or girl, and it's going to be a surprise (soon actually).

What color should we paint the nursery? My favorite color is green, so I'm thinking a really soft green color. Other options include yellow and mango/soft orange.

Any other suggestions?

Also, do particular colors set particular moods??

  1. soft green would be great for boy or girl.

  2. I think soft green is nice or a Off white and a brown border and then when the baby comes you can decorate more feminine or masculine.

  3. Do some trim around the room, not a decorative one, but some crown type wooden trim about 3 ft up and paint the bottom green and the top yellow, the soft pastel colors, the trim and baseboards white... it will be really cute and you can do almost any design with those colors.

  4. My favorite color is also green and though we aren't pregnant yet we have already painted our "Guest Bedroom" a soft green so that when the time comes it can work for a boy or a girl and I don't have to worry about paint fumes.

  5. I did mine in orange and I love it. I didn't really do a theme but we have a crib that is cognac stained and put decos on the wall of butterflies and lady bugs, etc. Also have wood letters that spell her name in purple which looks really good and some funky bright ribbon curtains.

  6. they say colors do different things cool colors are more calming and hot colors (such as red) are not. Why choose just one color make the room yours. Go to the store and get the sample cards of the colors you like. then go home and look at the walls. think about walking in there late at night and getting the baby and making that the babies room. Then decide on a design and colors. Maybe do a mango color with green circles on two walls and then switch it on the other two. MAKE IT YOUR OWN, we got bluebirld blue and tinker bell green (a perfect green) and we did hill and painted the top blue and the bottom green so it grass and sky, we then put wall paper decals of clouds plans and butterflies on the wall all over. in the grass we painted dogs and cats (we have one of each so it was nice to add them to the room) then did muddy puppy prints running through the grass. everyone has comment on how great it looks. if you dont like circles do lines blocks anything get creative its a babies room so mistakes are a great thing it adds character and when your child gets older it will mean more to them/ GL

  7. put your favorite color

  8. get something that you think is soothing.

  9. Something bright and cheerful. Babies can't even see soft pastels. Give him/her something fun to look at!

  10. The yellow and mango colors you mentioned are going to make the room feel cheerful, active and warm; green will make it seem cool and calm.  I painted a room light blue once and it seemed TOO cool.  I had to warm it up with yellow accessories.

They say that sage and other soft greens are very neutral and that's good so that you can change things up whenever you want.

I especially like the tropical room.

  11. Soft Green

  12. I went with a pale yellow, its more of an offwhite, with some yellow to it, Im having a boy but that color seemed to match lots of boys n girls bedding sets, you can always use decorations to bring more colors into the room after!!  I think thats a safer color than a green, when it comes to matching bed sets, you will leave yourself with alot more options (i do like greens better, but as far as options later with bedding pale yellows match with alot more!)

Go look at bedding sets, find some you like for both girls and boys, then think about what colors will match both!

    Good luck n congrats!!!

  13. I think you should have you furniture and bedding picked out first and then paint. You never know what you might find.

You can always go with a pretty beige or neutral color.

I do like the minty green though plan on repainting if it is a boy when he gets to be a little older. Boys usually don't like pastel colors.

If you go more neutral you can do anything you want and not have to repaint in 3-4 years.
