the kitchen walls are connected so i need a color that will let me blend them together so i can use what colors i want in the kitchen. I want red and black in kitchen, i was thinking a lighter brown color for two walls in the living room, and the wall that joins the kitchen a red color. So any ideas

  1. How about a pale yellow? Its goes with both colours and will lighten the room.

  2. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think it might look good to paint your all the walls something like "urbane bronze" (# 7048). that would match the red, black, blue & green.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  3. I'm struggling to see how your color choices will work together to give you the "connected" feeling you seem to be looking for.

What about going with a warm but light khaki color on the walls (Behr makes one called Pecan Sandie that might work well for you). This will give you a warm, but neutral background that works with the blue carpet, green couch and red accents in the kitchen.

You can use black wrought iron type lamps, black candle holders, picture frames, etc. in both rooms to bring in the black and tie the rooms together, too.

  4. off white all walls.  there is such a thing as too much color

  5. any water color will work. also try gray - light or even dark. you can mix colors- 2 walls light gray and 2 dark or so.

when re-decorating home, bedroom or any other room, always try to choose colors according to feng shui. in this case you will activate powers of 5 elements (water, earth, metal, wood and fire) and support all your lucky "areas" - this will attract love, romance, wealth, money, prosperity, luck etc etc
