What colors can go with light sage green?

Question

My husband and I just bought a house and the colors of the walls are a nice light sage green. We also have dark brown furniture. I would like to liven up the color scheme a bit but without guidance I'm afraid I will make it too tacky. I was thinking of using a rustic orange and an aqua blue. Is that way off?

Rust would be good color, as would:

hunter green

ivory

deep mauve

navy

camel

brick red

gold

i think if you use both colors it would be to much but the rustic orange would be a nice addition to the room
