  1. It looks like your wall color is blue behind your sofa.  If so, you are in luck because blues and browns are really "in" right now.  You can definitely add throw pillows that play off these two colors.  You could also get a ready-made drape that was either mainly blue or brown, and if you have any sewing skills, sew a border of the opposite color around them. Otherwise, I would try to find a muted striped drape in slightly different browns that are floor length since this is the living room. Since the walls are blue, go easy on putting much more blue in the room, even in the accessories. I would go more toward neutrals for them.

  2. What is your favorite color?  I would pick an accent color that "pops" (like orange) and try to find curtains that incorporate both the chocolate of the sofa and your accent color.  Since the sofa is a fairly neutral color, you're in luck.  Using it as a base, you can add almost any color to get a great contrast.  Good luck!

  3. since you cant paint and your walls are more than likely off-white, you should stick with different shades of taupe, tan, or grey.  they will match the sofa and blend with the wall, making it look like you WANTED the walls to be white :)

also, if your housing mgmt. allows you to hang things, go to walmart or some other fabric store and buy a thin, colored fabric that matches the color you would want to paint your walls.  if you hang it really tight and evenly against the wall (using a staple gun or those really small/thin nails), it gives the effect of textured paint.  ive done it before and its BEAUTIFUL!  just stay away from patterns :)
