  1. Yellow, Cream, or even warmer shades of green (green with more yellow in it - but not too dark or bright). I was watching this show where a couple had a rec room with a brick fire place and they painted the ceiling white/cream with dark brown beams and then the walls a warm light green. The used warm wood colrs, wood furniture and reds and warm golden hues to accent the room. The effect was like a lodge or retreat look. You could always paint the bricks, maybe a whitewash or something if you are looking for more of a cottage or east coast theme. .

  2. I have a red brick fireplace and I painted the wall a golden color and painted the trim white. Red and Gold go well together I think!

  3. Anything in the warm neutrals go great, as well as the yellows family. I would go a nice warm tan or so, or a creamy ivory color. If the bricks are distressed I would stick to the lighter colors, but if its fairly dark and red the darker browns and golds are really nice. Consider a lighter shade of your wall color for the trim if your trim is next to the fireplace, like your mantel. Although white is nice....
