What colour belt goes with white shoes (for guys)?

White shoes are pretty in at the moment, however it seems white belts are NOT. Talking semi formal or smart casual, can I wear a black or brown belt with white shoes and still be a fashion god? Are there any exceptions to the "belt must match shoes" rule that I should know about?

White belt is definitely out unless you want the Travolta look from Sat night fever.

Black is too striking, being the opposite of white.

A friend of mine was wearing a pair of blue jeans, with light blue shirt, white shoes and a light brown belt that had white seams. He looked awesome! If you can find a brown belt that has a white detail, that'd be the best solution. Otherwise, plain brown

yer i've heard of a rule like that, i think brown belts are definatly OUT so wear a black one
