What colour/breed is my rabbit?

my rabbit, Bear, is just over a year old. He is white and very fluffy! He has dark eyes and soft, downy, light grey ears. He has a lionhead mane. We got him from a pet shop and dont know his exact breeding. I think he's a lionhead, or a lionhead cross. is there an official name for his colour, or is it just the product of cross-breeding? I dont intend to show him but I am just interested to know!

Thanks!

  1. Hey

He's probably just an albino Lionhead.

Remember every rabbit is a little bit different to their breed =]

    Don't worry.

  5. If he has a mane like a Lionhead, he probably is one. Lionheads are not a recognized breed yet, so there are several breeders working on perfecting the breed so that they can get it recognized by the American Rabbit Breeder's Association (ARBA) as a recognized breed.

For that reason, Lionheads are being bred in large amounts, and there is a large number of "culls" that don't quite fit the bill when it comes to show or breeding type. So a lot of Lionheads have been appearing on the pet market lately.

The color you're describing sounds like it might be a Sable Point or a Himi, though I'm not sure if Himi is being worked on in Lionheads. Either way, it is likely that it is not a recognized color (or color they're trying to get recognized) since it was culled from the herd and sent to the pet store. But those are my best guesses (without a picture).

  6. A picture would help darling :l
