I have asked this question before, but we have quite a few misunderstandings. my living room hardwood floor has a mocha oak color, it connected with a hallway and porch of the entrance in milk white tiles, then a wall separate the stairs & livingroom ( ie when you look down from 2nd floor, you won't see the mocha oak floor, only when you stand at the porch of the entrance, you will see it, the railings are pre-stained with classic oak what color should i choose? the color match railings or the mocha? my house only has 1100 sq ft , there are 2 pairs of stairs. the 1st pair for going up/down the basement then the landing is the milky white hallway tiles, then an L shaped staircases leading up to 2nd fl, the 2nd fl are laminated with neutral color (a bit lighter than classic oak but quite match with the railings). i like something bright and spacious and too dark in stairs will be dangerours as you cannot see clearly and lights s/b always on to avoid slipping or missing steps

  1. Definately white!

I have always wanted a house with white wooden stairs. Looks gorgeous

  2. I would go with the milky white too, if you look in any house magazines you will see that the wood and white effect can look fantastic!  I would say don't go with white-white but the milky/slightly off white, will give a softer but brighter look which I think it is you're looking for!

Good luck and happy painting :o)

  3. white?  as long as you like it xD ..

  4. Go for the milky white color, it will make the area look larger and brighter
