Question:

What colour should my grandma paint her house?

My grandma is having her house repainted and is getting quite upset about deciding which colour to paint it as she says it's "expensive and she wants it to look good".

She's been moping around for days, smoking ten times more than usual and spending hours poring over paint charts. I'd like to help her but just can't make myself feel passionate about things like the colour of a house! I suggested she just didn't bother but she is adamant it must be done.

The tiles on the house are red and currently the paintwork is magnolia, but she wants something less 'yellowy" this time, as "on rainy days it look like a sherbet lemon"

Thank you!

Any suggestions would be appreciated....

  1. Go to Sherwinwilliams.com and let her see various color combinations on houses similar to hers.

  2. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

How about a dark brown like "bramble bush" (# 2923)?

  3. rose sherbet by behr

I have this color with red tiles and it looks lovely
