traditionally they're portrayed as olive-coloured but black nationalist always say they were black.

I'm not an egyptologist, so I'm not an expert on this, but don't the majority of heiroglyphs/egyption art show olive-skinned people? I've heard that there are pyramids in what used to be called Nubia or the southern kingdom or something (is it now northern sudan?) which was inhabited by dark-skinned people - is this why some people say that egypt as a whole was inhabited by dark-skinned people?

And how exactly do people know what colour people were 3000 years ago?

I don't really have strong opinions on this, but I know a lot of people do - would be interested to hear them. And any links (especially academic rather than polemic) would be great.

  1. The ancient Egyptians were  100% black African .Only much later when Eygpt was conquered was conquered by Alexander the Great that there was a large influx of Mediterrean olive skinned types. The light skinned people you now see in Cairo are not related to the Ancient Egyptians as they descend from Turks, Greeks,French and the Arabs.

That means the builders and engineers  of the pyramids , Sphinx, obelisks and the incredible contributions they have made to modern Western society were black Africans. The Greeks admitted they learnt directly from the Egyptians who they admired enormously and they described them as being black Africans.
