  1. what about a nice dark red/pinky cranberry colour?

  2. Dark navy blue...(light purple and blue resemble a night sky at dusk.)

I often try to look at what works well in nature.

Tree: Dark brown and just about any shade of green

Flowers: Yellow and green, pink and green, red and white, etc.

Mother Nature's color schemes always work.

Take a walk in a park or a garden for inspiration

  3. If the rest of the walls are light purple I would probably go with a gray on the other wall.

oh oh, idea - get a silvery paint and dry brush it on top of the purple on one wall.  Do a cross hatch pattern to mimic fabric - with a large 4-5 in brush dry brush the paint on going one stroke across for 12"-18", then down for 12"-18"  You should be able to get 4-6 strokes before reloading the brush.  Make sure to keep the brush mostly dry tho but tamping some of the paint off on paper before taking it to the wall.  This leaves a very subtle but interesting texture on the wall.

  4. like a lilac-y colour? what about pink (fuschia) and gold?

  5. I'd go for contrast, so what about a slightly darker shade of blue?

  6. Dark purple - then paint a large box or circle or stripe of the lighter purple.  This can act like a "frame" for wall hangings and is a neat way to tie in the main color. It would work for any color combo.

  7. You could do either yellow or a darker purple. Yellow goes really well with purples. You could even paint stripes with the two colors or tape it off on a diagonal.

  8. Why not try and find a complimentry wallpaper, that has your background colour in it?
