I agree with the yellow-if you want the blue or whatever colour to stand out the rule is to use the opposite colour against it-so pick the oppposite yellow not just any old yelllow!

I think this would depend on what you want to portray with the logo - what the brand values of the company/group are.

I think that the psychology of colour is particularly important when working with logos and brand identity.

Blue portrays loyalty and is quite calming. If you wanted to convey vibrancy and value for money then orange is good. If you wanted some nice and clean, say for a medical profession, go with white.

Google - "psychology of colour" and have a think about what fits in with what kind of emotion you want to convey to people and go with that. When you are settled on what kind of colour you want then you can pick what hue you want.

I like the light blue with brown.... up to you though. Contrast helps. Evey background color will change the effect. Good luck!  :)
