  1. when re-decorating home, bedroom or any other room, always try to choose colors according to feng shui. in this case you will activate powers of 5 elements (water, earth, metal, wood and fire) and support all your lucky "areas" - this will attract love, romance, wealth, money, prosperity, luck etc etc

  2. I'm really into the brown and turquoise and brown and pink patterns.  If you tie brown into the room and keep the turquoise and pink separated for the two kids, that might look really great!  The carpet can be beige or tan to keep it neutral.

  3. Why not go for a british beach theme? Boy and girls of every age love the beach.

Not only will it be suitable for them, but nautical is also very on trend so you can make it stylish as well.

For a carpet, choose something neutral and hard wearing! Especially for kids that age! A thick sandy coloured carpet.

You could even keep the walls white and brighten up the room with the accessories in blues, reds, and a bit of yellow. Retro signs, union jacks, stripes.

  4. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think a light blue like "tidewater" (# 6477) work work well for both a boy & a girl. If you're concerned that your daughter would think the blue too boyish, then maybe do two walls blue & the other two something like "lucent yellow" (# 6400).

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  5. How about green?
