What colours suit a dun horse?

I have a competition coming up and i cant decide what colours would suit my horse.

Bue, Red, and Maroon all look great on dun horses.

I love red, I have a dun and he looks handsome it in! But black also looks good since they have the whole black mane/tail thing going anyways :)

pink, blue, green,orange,red, and that's all i would think would look good.

i think purple or hunter green would look really nice!

for the purple it could be a really rich color or even lavender!

the hunter green is self explanatory!

i would do purple if you have a mare and green if you have a gelding!

if you like the idea of purple though... but you have a gelding and you don't want him in purple... i would try a nice royal blue!

maroon wouldn't be bad either... its just not my favorite.

Black would look really sharp in contrast to their coloring, but if you're going for flashy colors I would say royal blue would look best or you could even go wild and do something like lime green...

I like jewel tones on a dun horse, especially golden dun.  Colors like saphire blue, ruby red, emerald green they all stand out really well against a dun horse's coat and make it POP!  Jewel tones are great for any color really, but if you're on a golden dun I'd suggest ruby red, a rich red dun would look good with the green, and the blue would look good on either.

Dun is a beautiful color. So you want to bring out its full potential. It would be helpful if you could tell us what gender your horse is. Also take into consideration your horse. If you were a boy would you want to be wearing a hot pink suit? So if you have a gelding you should choose a boy color. I always find that a nice dark purple looks good on a dun mare. If you have a gelding a dark green is nice. Do not use a very light green (such as lime green) or a very dark green however. hunter green is nice.  But if you have a gelding and you are a girl the color blue is a good choice. A nice light sky blue, or a darker blue would do the trick. If your horse has a black mane and tail black would be an awesome color. But it may be a little plain. I would avoid the color red at all costs. It makes a horses dun color fade or turn dull or red. This is about all I can say. I also recommend when you go to the tack store ask one of the employees. if you can you should go to a few horse shows and see what colors riders have on their dun horses and if you like them.
